Kurrawa Fraser Island

Location Location Location

Just imagine – Sitting on the balcony of your holiday home on a tropical evening sipping a glass of wine amidst gently waving palms, walking through rainforest catching glimpses of brightly coloured parrots, fishing in the sea or a freshwater lake, handling a 4WD on bushtracks, watching whales frolicking in an azure sea in season, or just sunbathing on a warm beach.  That’s exactly what Kurrawa Fraser Island is!

Just a dream? Dreams can come true.

Kurrawa, a high set comfortable holiday home, on World Heritage Fraser Island is only 300 metres from the sea on the central east coast in Happy Valley.

The fully self-contained holiday home is situated just 50 metres from a shop, fuel outlet, bar and restaurant. The home comprises lounge, dining room and kitchen, 3 bedrooms with a double bed, two singles and a double bunk. Outside – a garden of 556 square metres of lawns and tropical palms for your enjoyment, plus an outdoor deck with a BBQ.

Fraser Island is more than sun and sea. It is the largest sand island in the world and abounds with wildlife, rainforest, freshwater lakes and creeks.

Attractions are within easy reach with a 4WD, the only vehicle allowed on the island. Drive along Seventy-five mile beach. Low tide is obviously the best time. Check the tide times. Reduced tyre pressure is recommended, so bring your tyre pressure gauge/air compressor. After storms there are hazards such as washouts and rough seas can also expose rocks.

Watch out for light aircraft landing on the beach! No 4WD? Hire one in Hervey Bay or Rainbow Beach, you will need to book ahead. Vehicle Permits are required before arriving on the island and can be obtained in Hervey Bay, Rainbow Beach or Brisbane at a cost of $34.40 for one month or an annual permit for $172.30.

Also obtainable on line at www.frasercoastholidays.info Or if it is a gentler pace you are wanting, there is the Great Walk which takes in many major attractions including the precious rainforest. Visit the myriad of picturesque freshwater lakes and creeks, the Maheno wreck, the coloured sand cliffs, and Central Station.

See the dingo’s, Australia’s wild dogs. Go fishing. On a hot day – Eli Creek is the place to cool down.

So much for so little – Where else in the world can one find paradise at such a budget price?
